“Mac” McKinnie

Founder & Managing Attorney

Mac McKinnie brings more than 25 years of legal experience as a trusted general counsel, corporate counsel, and strategic litigation attorney in the residential homebuilding and land development business. His practice spans real estate, construction law, personal injury, and commercial litigation, with a proven record of representing homebuilders, developers, contractors, property owners, tenants, title companies, and lenders in high-stakes matters. From pre-litigation risk analysis to mediation, through trial, arbitration, and appeal, Mac has guided clients through the full spectrum of legal challenges, including multimillion-dollar real estate transactions and complex development disputes.

With this foundation, Mac launched McKinnie Law Firm with a clear focus: achieving clients’ business goals and resolving disputes, not prolonging them. By drawing on his experience in hundreds of mediations as both plaintiff and defense counsel, as well as his role as a client, he now seeks to develop his skills serving as a neutral mediator. He is building his practice as an intermediary of complex construction and real estate claims. Where legal insight meets industry expertise, Mac delivers clarity, balance, and resolution.

A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Mac earned both a B.A. in History and a B.B.A. in General Business in 1996. While at SMU, he was a four-year letterman and a starting defensive end for the football team, was recognized with the Lester Jordan Award for the highest GPA among football players, and was named to the Southwest Conference Academic Honor Roll.

He continued his studies at South Texas College of Law, earning his J.D. in 1999 and his license to practice in 2000. During law school, he served as Assistant Editor of the Corporate Counsel Review, published in the Texas Entertainment and Sports Law Journal. He earned multiple honors for his writing and advocacy, including recognition on the Dean’s Honor List and finalist placements in mock trial and mediation competitions.

Today, Mac leverages his decades of legal and industry experience to provide client-focused, cost-effective counsel. His unique blend of litigation expertise, corporate business experience, and transactional insight makes him a trusted advisor for individuals, businesses, and institutions navigating the complexities of real estate, development, and construction law.
